This shell building for Starbucks is located in a multi-tenant retail center in the City of Fontana, California. The building is conceived as a basic retail “box” further delineated by the introduction of a tower element marking the front entry to the building in the middle of the building and secondary tower elements marking the drive-thru window and the north facade that faces the interior of the retail center.
The exterior building materials consist of an earth-toned, variegated ceramic tile at the tower elements and the base of the building and exterior cement plaster at the uppermost portion of the building. Green awnings in the ubiquitous Starbucks green color provide shade on the east facade of the building and metal canopy elements mark both the front entry to the building and the drive-thru window. A drought-tolerant landscape palette was utilized throughout the project.
