Located in the bustling auto dealership zone of Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa, Costa Mesa Mitsubishi needed to be eye-catching from street to compete with its neighbors. This was achieved by constructed a large, exposed steel and glass showroom and framing it with the use of large-scale, poured-in-place concrete columns at the perimeter that are reminiscent of freeway bridge columns. At night, the showroom has a lantern-like effect as viewed from the busy street while during the day it is the almost brutalist language of the building that attracts attention.
