Killingsworth Plaza, a memorial plaza located on the campus of Cal State Long Beach, is dedicated to Ed Killingsworth who was the campus architect at CSULB for nearly 40 years. Ed Killingsworth was a prominent architect within the Case Study Houses program in the 1950’s and made a profound and lasting impression on the campus of Cal State Long Beach.
The plaza has two semi-circular seating areas on the east and west sides and a square raised planter and seating area in the center of the plaza which contains a single “Helen Borcher” peach tree. This tree is a species hand selected by Mr. Killingsworth, and was used extensively throughout the campus.
Donnie DeWees designed this project while a Project Design Director for another firm.
