GREEN CHEEK BEER COMPANY – SUNSET BEACH is the third project that DeWees Design has completed for this client and the first one to have been built, having been completed in the summer of 2023. Previous locations were designed in Costa Mesa, California which is still in process and in Santa Ana, California.
DESIGN CONCPET
The design of the project was a true collaboration with the Owner and their Marketing and Visual Director. A complete remodel of the former Woody’s Diner located along Pacific Coast Highway in Sunset Beach, the concept behind the design is provide a striking visual presence along P.C.H. while providing an entirely new outdoor dining experience on the second-floor deck facing the Pacific Ocean. The interior of the restaurant was completely re-modeled as well to adhere to the same interior design that has been established by their current breweries in Orange, California and Costa Mesa, California.

THE OUTDOOR DINING DECK will have a bright cobalt blue steel frame shade structure punctuated by bright yellow retractable awnings and diagonal festoon lighting. The tables are arranged in such a way there is a very intimate “Sunset Deck” on the southwest end of the dining deck for the best view of the legendary, “Green Flash” of the Pacific Ocean at that moment the the sun meets the horizon. The railing that surrounds the perimeter of the outdoor dining deck is done in a powder-coated metal mesh grill. All of the indoor and outdoor tables were custom made from solid, laminated wood. Custom “hopper” style windows occur along the south wall of the bar and second floor dining opening up to the outdoor dining deck and the Pacific Ocean in the distance.
