CUSTOM GLASS PIECES – HEALTHY BEAN COFFEE SHOP – WEST HOLLYWOOD
SIS ARCHITECTURE, FURNITURE DESIGN AND INTERIOR ART WORK
Donnie DeWees and Shelley Sivak have collaborated on custom glass pieces for several different projects. Shelley has been a glass artist “goddess” for the last 30 years and Donnie has often looked for opportunities to introduce Shelley’s work into their collaborative projects.
These three pieces were designed for the Healthy Bean Coffee Shop located in West Hollywood, California. The concept behind this unique coffee shop was the introduction of additives and vitamins to the typical morning cup of coffee. This concept was expressed in the interior design of the project based on the following ideas:
WOOD – As evidence of growth
WATER – As essence of life
STONE – As solidity of health
GRASS – As genesis of growth
The concept behind the three glass pieces is to augment the conceptual design of the interiors of the coffee shop, therefore there are two pieces that represent the necessary of element of water for coffee as expressed as the ripples caused by a single drop of water. The red piece is an abstraction of the company logo which has been derived from the red color that is present in Chinese culture which symbolizes the following:
LUCK – JOY – HAPPINESS
CELEBRATION – VITALITY – FERTILITY
