ORANGE COUNTY FAIR AND EVENTS CENTER – CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR ADMINISTRATION BUILDING

The Conceptual Design for the Orange County Fair and Events Center Administration Building was a response to an RFP issued in 2023.

The Building consists of a 12,000 GSF Administrative Building with Executive Offices, Staff Offices, Open Office Areas, Conference Areas, Kitchen and Break Room as well as a “surge space” for when the the O.C. Fair is up and running at full capacity in the Summer.

Conceived as an extension of the existing Administration Building, the Proposed Building is sited just to the east of the existing Admin. Bldg. creating a central courtyard that can be shared by both parts of the expanded building.  A large, steel sawtooth roof shade structure occupies this courtyard space providing much needed shade in the summer and natural sunshine in the winter months.  Each of the sloped roof elements contains a solar array which feeds directly into the building.  A large, red steel frame which is an abstraction of the famous Red Barn at the Centennial Farm marks the south side of the courtyard.
