VIEW LOOKING SOUTH ACROSS THE POOL TOWARDS THE FAMILY ROOM ADDITION
The Pealo Family Residence is a one-story, single-family residence located on a hillside lot in the City of Yorba Linda. The project consists of adding a Family Room, Dining Room and Kitchen remodel to the existing house and adding a swimming pool, spa and landscape terraces at the existing hillside. The Family Room is conceived as a small tower element with a vaulted, heavy-timber roof structure and a large expanse of sliding glass doors opening out to the pool area. The Dining Room is a small, formal space that leads out to a formal, private garden area.
In the compact rear yard a small Inglenook has been introduced on the exterior of the fire place creating a very intimate night time gathering space. The existing hill has been carved into small alcoves for a BBQ area and a sun-bathing terrace and a large stair leading to a small lookout terrace at the top of the hill. A simply detailed, elegant wood trellis element marks the east side of the pool at the existing house and draws views from the Family Room out towards the north side of the pool area.
