DeWees Design was hired by the City of Orange Community Development Department to generate Standard A.D.U. (Accessory Dwelling Unit) Plans as required by the state of California.
There were three distinct architectural styles that were congruent with the existing architectural and historic fabric of the City of Orange, especially among the Old Towne Orange Historic District which is the largest Historic District in the State of California.
Styles selected: RANCH STYLE, BUNGALO STYLE AND SPANISH STYLE
The Standard Plans will soon be available on the City of Orange Website for use in all parts of the City, contingent upon review and approval of both the Planning Department and the Building Department.
Website location: WWW.CITY OF ORANGE-TO BE DETERMINED.COM
The Standard ADU Floor Plan that is being developed is a 584 square foot, One-Story, One-Bedroom/One-Bathroom, detached Single-Family Residence with a Formal Living Room, Full-Sized Gourmet Kitchen, Laundry Area and two private Outdoor Patios.
Each of the three style options are being designed to accommodate a multitude of potential Site Plan Options, giving the A.D.U. Program as much flexibility as possible. Changes to the exterior of each option occur in the size and placement of the exterior doors and windows in order to add more flexibility to the home as well as the ability to address the varying solar orientations of each individual project given it’s unique site location.
